What AI consulting covers
Good consulting answers three questions before money goes into technology: Which tasks in your company suit AI? Which approach fits them? And how do you keep the use of AI compliant with data protection requirements and manageable for your team?
At titanspear.ai, that includes:
- Mapping: We walk through a workflow or a knowledge area with the people who work in it today. Where does the data come from, where does it go, where does work get stuck?
- Target picture: Which steps does the software take over, and where does your team approve? The result is a concept with effort and expected benefit.
- Choice of approach: We decide with you between process automation, a RAG system and a Corporate LLM, and we document the decision so your data protection and IT security teams can review it.
- AI policies: We define with you which data may go into which tool and who uses AI for what.
- Employee training: Your teams learn to use the solution safely and sensibly.
AI is less suited to decisions that call for a lot of judgment. There, the software prepares the groundwork and a person decides. Telling you where AI is not the right lever is part of the job.
Which approach fits your situation?
Consulting is the starting point, and the build follows from it. What you end up with depends on where you start:
| Starting situation | Approach |
|---|---|
| Recurring workflows built on emails, PDFs and moving data between systems | AI process automation |
| Existing software (ERP, CRM, document storage, ticketing) that should get AI features | AI integration |
| Company knowledge in documents that employees should find fast, with sources | RAG system |
| Confidential data, and employees already use AI with personal accounts | Corporate LLM |
| Many incoming calls, and too many go unanswered because nobody can pick up | AI phone assistant |
| Unclear whether goals, data, systems and team are ready yet | AI readiness assessment |
| Unclear who may use AI for what, and how teams get up to speed | AI policy and training |
The technology behind each approach is explained on its own page. For a concept-level overview, see AI knowledge management. If you are weighing RAG, start with how a RAG system is built and RAG versus fine-tuning.
“The staff had more time to get their other tasks done.”
AI strategy consulting: from use case to roadmap
An AI strategy is not a slide deck that sits on a shelf. It sets which use cases come first, who owns them, which data may be used and how you measure success. The step-by-step version is in our guide to an AI implementation roadmap.
If you first want to know where the company stands, start with the AI readiness assessment. In the engagement, we then work through the steps on one concrete process instead of designing a strategy in the abstract.
Who benefits from AI consulting
It pays off most where experts spend a lot of time reading, matching and retyping, or where data must not leave the building:
- Legal and contract teams: summarize contracts, compare clauses, draft from your own templates
- Insurers, banks and financial services: prepare cases, make policy terms and internal guidelines searchable
- Industrial companies with engineering and project data: search technical documentation, draft quotes and reports
- Companies with confidentiality obligations to customers: if you have promised not to pass customer data to third parties, you need control over how AI processes it
Boutique AI consultancy or large consulting firm?
Both can be the right call. It depends on how big the program is and how close you want the people doing the work to stay. The comparison by category, without names:
| Criterion | Boutique AI consultancy | Large consulting firm | In-house team |
|---|---|---|---|
| Scope | Strategy and build from one team, starting with a defined first use case | Broad programs across many business units | Ongoing AI work with dedicated capacity |
| Your contact | A senior person stays on the account (at titanspear.ai: the founder) | A team structure with several levels | Your own staff |
| After launch | Support and adjustments can be agreed in the contract | Depends on the program and contract | Needs standing capacity in the company |
| Cost logic | A fixed price for a defined scope | Larger programs, usually priced by team and duration | Salaries, tools and ramp-up time |
titanspear.ai is a boutique: consulting and build from one team, with founder Flo Knies as your contact person.
How an AI consulting engagement works at titanspear.ai
- Intro call (30 minutes by video, free): Which tasks, which data, which systems, which requirements? We assess what AI can solve and what a pilot would look like.
- Mapping: We document the workflow or knowledge area together with the people involved.
- Target picture and decision: A concept with effort and expected benefit, the choice of approach, and data protection questions settled and documented.
- Pilot on real data: One process, one knowledge area or one department goes live, at first with every result checked.
- Extend and support: Once the pilot runs stably, more use cases follow. Policies and training go along with the rollout, and we monitor the system and adjust it when your systems or rules change.
Founder Flo Knies stays your contact person. He qualified as an AI Automation Manager at TÜV SÜD Academy and holds three IHK certificates in AI and online marketing. More on the About page.
Data protection from day one
- Contract: We sign a data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR with you.
- Model training: For RAG and Corporate LLM, your data is never used to train third-party models.
- Traceability: The choice of approach is documented so your data protection and IT security leads can review it.
You can draft your usage rules before the call with our free AI policy template. For the bigger picture of how a company governs its use of AI, see our guide to AI governance.
How much do AI consulting services cost?
Published budget examples for AI projects range from about $10,000 for a simple AI feature to $300,000 and more for AI-powered workflow automation, according to one integration provider (smartexe.com, page opened October 11, 2026). These figures describe build projects, not consulting fees alone, and they are not titanspear.ai prices. The full table is on our page about AI integration services.
What drives a price is rarely the single meeting. It is the scope behind it: how many processes and systems are involved, which data flows in, and whether policies, training and operations are part of the work. That is why titanspear.ai gives no flat rates. You get a quote after the intro call, as a fixed price.
What to look for in an AI consultant
- It starts with your process and your data, not with a tool.
- It states effort and expected benefit before anything is built.
- It tests on real data instead of stopping at a presentation.
- It plans data protection and human approval in from the start.
- It tells you where AI doesn't fit.
- It doesn't disappear after the pilot: ongoing operation and updates are covered.
